چکیده

In this paper, a novel framework for generalization of 3D city models based on CityGML and X3D is proposed. In the proposed framework, the CityGML files are first parsed into a Java environment to acquire the city model information using Citygml4j, an open source Java API. Generalization is then performed in the Java environment. The outcome of the generalisation is CityTree, a multiple representation data structure of the objects, based on which we can effectively realize the continual scaling and dramatically reduce the load time of 3D models. Finally, the X3D representation is generated from the CityTree Model and is displayed by Xj3D viewer. By utilising CityTree, the multiple representation data structure, it is possible to have dynamic zoom functionality in real time. The paper describes the general framework and an implementation using this framework on the aggregation of 3D building objects. The implementation confirms the applicability of the framework for generalization of 3D city models. * Corresponding author. Bo Mao; [email protected]; phone 46 8 790-7676; fax 46 8 790-8580

Web-based Visualisation of the Generalised 3D City Models using HTML5 and X3DOM

Efficient visualisation of 3D city models in various scales is one of the pivotal techniques to support applications in mobile and Internet environments. In this paper, a framework is proposed to visualise online 3D city models using Internet Browsers without plugins. The City Geography Makeup Language (CityGML) and Extensible 3D (X3D) are used to represent and present the 3D city models. Then,...

Symbolisation of 3D city models for online visualisation

3D city building models can improve many applications such as urban planning, navigation, disaster management, traffic control etc., in various aspects especially in visualisation. However, compared with the data volume and complexity of 3D city models, the capability of devices and network band are still limited. To improve the visualisation efficiency, generalisation of 3D city models is requ...

A Unified Approach for 3d Generalization of Building Models in Citygml

Task-specific applications demand abstractions (generalized) 3D scenes of 3D models to be used for visualization and analysis purposes. Therefore, lower LoDs (level-of-details) from higher LoDs need to be made available to these applications. A unified generalization framework is proposed to derive multiple LoDs (LoD3-LoD1) taking both semantics and geometric aspects of 3D buildings modelled in...

Towards Defining a Framework for the Automatic Derivation of 3D CityGML Models from Volunteered Geographic Information

High-quality geographic data sources are eminent for urban data management and the creation of detailed 3D city models. In the past two decades, Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) increasingly gained attractiveness to both amateur users and professionals, resulting in a broad availability of urban data within VGI communities and especially OpenStreetMap (OSM). OSM provides detailed inform...
